Babel

A boy who likes to masturbate over goats when he's not watching his sister undress.
A mexican housekeeper stuck with two kids she doesn't want to take to her kids wedding.
Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett on holiday in Morocco
A deaf mute Japanese girl who likes losing her underwear.

All come together when an accident happens.

I spent most of the film wondering the following.

Why were Brad and Cate on holiday in Afghanistan? You only find out its Morocco late in the film and because its subtitled you can't tell what accent is being spoken by the locals.

How did the boy manage to shoot the left hand side of the bus when he could only see the right from his shooting place?

How did the bullet hit Cate in the shoulder if the bullet hole was below shoulder level and the shooter was up a mountain?

Why did Brad Pitt insist on keeping cotton wool behind his bottom lip?

Why if Cate Blanchett pissed herself would she insist on needing a pot to piss a second time?

The film was half an hour too long…

HDR Shots of London

Thought I'd take the new camera into town and have a play with it.
These are HDR shots, where you take the same shot with 3 exposures then use software to put them all together and produce pics with a crazy level of detail.

Smokin' Aces

The first movie of the year and its a stonker. The hype is telling me that this is going to be the best film of the year, they always say this in January though. I'm sure there will be better, although not a lot. I really did enjoy this a lot.

A mafia boss is dying and puts a hit on a casino entertainer turned informant a with a one million dollar bounty on his head. The FBI obviously don't want this to happen but find themselves with an assortment of hitmen all congregating on the hotel where he's staying.

What plays out is 90 minutes of explosions, mexican stand-offs, gunfights, tight dialogue, one liners, amusing cameos, and the obligatory twist ending. If you liked Lock Stock then you'll like this as its in a similar style.

Some of the characters are over the top but in a good way, whilst its played to be serious the tongue is pressed into the cheek a little. By far the most amusing character is Warren, a redneck kid with conjunctivitis, thick lenses and a love of the…

Dublin 2007

January last year was the first time I went over to Funderland, Ireland's largest fair and I knew then it would become a regular meet-up with friends and break away from home. This was put in place when I won a go-karting championship and vowed to defend the title this year.

Time not spent with friends was taken up walking around with the camera and seeing what I could find. Having done the sight-seeing thing on previous trips I decided to go off track this time. After all statues of Molly Malone and other Irish luminaries rarely change from one year to the next.

Some church and head quarters of a bank, which always reminds me of the Tyrell Corporation building in Blade Runner for some reason.

One of the main government buildings and an out of place tall building that makes a nice reflection. That was the reason for taking the picture.

This is the LE Emer, one of the Irish Navy's 8 ships. Actually named after the wife of Irish legend Cuchulain, it seemed odd that they'd choose…
