Further to my earlier post where I mourned the death of my Gameboy it actually turns out that it survived the wash after all, albeit with a water stain just behind the glass. It's still playable but not ideal, I'm likely to still go ahead and buy a new one when they're officially released here.
I'm still scared to plug it into a power point though.
